CME Globex Order Qualifiers

An order eligible to be entered into the CME Globex system that does not contain a duration qualifier will be cancelled if not filled during the Trading Day in which it was received or, if it was received between Trading Days, during the next Trading Day. An order may specify one of the following duration qualifiers:

fill or kill: The order is cancelled if it is not immediately filled in total at the specified price or better;

fill and kill: The order is immediately filled in whole or part against the first best opposite limit price, and the remaining quantity (if any) is cancelled;

session: The order will be cancelled if not filled during the Session in which it was received or, if it was received between Trading Sessions, during the next Session. An order with a Session qualifier may also be designated "ETH only," in which case the order will be cancelled if not filled during the ETH Session, or "RTH only," in which case the order will be cancelled if not filled during the RTH;

Session.Day: The order will be cancelled if not filled during the Trading Day;

GTC (good-til-cancelled): The order will, in the absence of a specific designation limiting its scope, remain in force during RTH and ETH Sessions until executed or cancelled;

GTD (good-through-date): The order will remain in force through the specified date unless earlier executed or cancelled. Chicago Mercantile Exchange Glossary
